--DAARA General Rules

The primary objective of DAARA is to promote the preservation of vintage race cars in an exhibition racing format, which emphasizes driver safety and courtesy. The hobby is intended to provide a format for friendly competition with vehicles prepared accurately to their era. All racing is dangerous and only the proper attitude of the driver and the complete preparation of the cars may reduce the danger.


1.  At all DAARA event the word "racing" always means "exhibition racing", not all out racing.
2.  Full safety gear MUST be worn when push starting any car, in a SAFE PART of the pits, or on the track. 
3.  10 mph pit speed limit for ANY vehicle, except when push starting a car. 
4.  Only licensed drivers will be allowed to operate ATV’s and golf carts in the pits.
5.  Suspensions or probations will be determined by a vote of the Board of Directors, at the track, or during a meeting.
6.  Any class requiring a full face helmet will require a doctor’s excuse and a DAARA disclaimer to be exempt from this rule.
7.  Falsifying any DAARA form, may result in a penalty voted on by the Board of Directors.
8.  Duplicate numbers in the same class will require an initial behind the number on the entry form and on the car.  Member being in DAARA the longest time has first selection.
9.  Members who have not driven at a DAARA event will meet with two DAARA Board members, prior to driving in any race.  New drivers will then start at the rear of the heat and feature of that event.
10.  All drivers at any DAARA event must be a current DAARA member, possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.
11.  Stay in your lane, except when passing. Do not use "all the Lanes".   Slow is low, except when track does not allow.  If you have trouble and must stop, go to THE INSIDE only.
12.  You must always use jack stands when working under a car.
13.  Any issues or problems will be handled by the DAARA Board Members present.    

Guidelines for Speedsters

1. Lap belts with arm restraints are mandatory. It is recommended that faster Speedsters with roll bars be equipped with five-point seat belts. 
2. Roll bars are not mandatory but are suggested in the faster cars. Bumpers and Nerf Bars are not required. 
3. All Speedsters with a foot throttle must have two return springs on the carburetor/carburetors. Model T hand throttles must be in good condition. 
4. All Speedsters must have working rear brakes. Faster Speedsters should have four-wheel brakes. It is also suggested that that they have a working hand brake. 
5. All Speedster must have an emergency engine and fuel system cutoff switch clearly marked ‘ON/OFF’. 
6. Speedsters can be either one or two seat vehicles that are powered by period four-cylinder engines. 
7. Typically Speedsters are based on Model T and Model A Fords without major chassis or suspension modifications.

Guidelines for Super Modified

1.  Car must conform to "sprint car" tire rules. 
2.  Car may or may not run a wing or wings.
3.  Car may have radical chassis offset.
4.  Car may have radical engine offset.
5.  Car may have radical suspension.
6.  "Skeeter" type cars will run in this class.

These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with these rules and or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and do not provide in any form a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.

The race director shall be authorized to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any future restrictions that in his/her opinion does not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

16. EACH OPEN WHEEL CAR MUST HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN THE PITS. RECOMMEND THEM IN THE CAR. IT IS MANDATORY THAT STOCK CARS HAVE ONE IN THE CAR AND IS IN AN ACCESSIBLE LOCATION.

DAYTONA ANTIQUE AUTO RACING ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I. -- NAME AND PURPOSE

SECTION 1. The name of this club shall be known as The Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association (also referred to as DAARA).

SECTION 2. A. The primarypurpose of this club is to foster and promote the welfare regardingthe sport of antique automobile racing which encompasses; the history of these racing vehicles,restoration of the various typesofantique race cars, along with thedisplay and exhibition of these race cars.

B. Race carsacceptable will be speedsters (race track type), midgets, sprinters, champion cars, stock cars, and modified.To be considered vintage, these racecars must be representative of vehicles at least thirty (30) years old.Specific classes,non-inclusion vehicles and allowable modifications will be addressed in theto be updatedDAARA RULES& SAFETYMANUAL.Cars of any class may be rejected by the Board of Directors if the Board decides it doesn’t fit the spirit of the rules.

ARTICLE II. – BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SECTION 1. The business of the association shall be conducted bya Board of Directors consisting of eleven members in which four (4) shall be the elected club officers, six (6) shall be elected board members and one (1) will be the previous Past President. Tomaintain continuity,ClubOfficers and Board members shall serve a two-year termand shall be elected annually by a majority of the members entitled to vote. Three (3) of the six (6) board members will serve two-year alternating terms.Therefore, only three (3) memberswill be elected annually by a majority of the members entitled to vote.The Past President will serve onthe Board after his or her term as President has expireduntil a new President is elected

SECTION 2. Interimvacancies as Officers or BoardMembers shall be filled only by consensus of the remaining Officersand Board Members.

SECTION 3. Officers and Board Members shall hold office from the time of their election and until their successors are elected.

SECTION 4. Regular meetings of the Directors may be held at the call of the President or Vice-President, or by three or more Directors of the Board. Such regular meetings shall be conductedonly after a 3 day advancedwritten (E-mail)and/or oral (telephone) notice specifying the time and place of meeting and the nature of the business to be transacted at such meeting. Current computer technology may allow for E-mail conferencing. Emergency meetings may be called by the President or Vice President anytime a situation evolves that requires an immediate response. Official business cannot be conducted at any meeting unless a quorum of Officers and Directors are present or contacted. Six (6) members constitute a quorum. Board members missing more than two (2) consecutive meetings, (without good cause,) shall be brought before the board, at which time a vote to determine to accept the absences , or to replace the board member, for non-participation in club affairs, shall be determined.

ARTICLE III. – OFFICERS

SECTION 1. The association shall have the following officers who shall be elected every two years by a majority of member’s eligible to vote,to-wit the President, Vice-President, Secretary, andTreasurer. All such officers shall be eligible for re-election.

SECTION 2. President. When possible, the President shall preside at all meetings of the Directors and at all meetings of the members, and he or she shall perform such other duties as are usually performed by a President, including the acting as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of all committees.

SECTION 3. Vice-President. The Vice-President shall perform all the duties of the President in his or her absence or incapacity. The Vice-President may perform other duties as assigned by the President and Board of Directors.

SECTION 4. Secretary. The Secretary shall attend or communicate electronically all meetings of the Directors and the club membership and keep and/or transcribe all minutes of such meetings. The Secretary shall be responsiblemaintaining membership recordsand based on the directives of the President, supervise all records of the club along withsending out notices conducted by the Association.The Secretary shall perform such other duties as are usually preformed by a secretary of a corporation.

SECTION 5. Treasurer. The Treasurer shall collect, receive, and record all membershipduesand other Associationincomes. All funds of the Association shall be placed as promptly as possible in the bank. The Treasurer shall maintain the all of the Association’s financial records and make regular reports of the Association’s financial status to the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall make payments via check or debit cardfrom the Association’s funds when so ordered by the Association’s Board of Directors. No funds will be withdrawn without the written order of the Board of Directors, who may authorize the President or Vice-President to sign such an order for withdrawal.

ARTICLE IV. – MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1. Any person of good moral character and reputation interested in antique automobile racing or any field of endeavor related thereto, may become a regular activeparticipating memberof Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association by completing the annual membership application form and paying the required membership dues. This format of membership allows for participation including voting rights on all issues presented.

SECTION 2. All accepted memberships shall include the members spouse or significant other, as recorded on the DAARA membership list

NOTE: To participate as an exhibition driver, the member must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, possess a valid state driver’s license and apply for and pay the required membership dues and receive regular active membership status.

SECTION 3. Upon receipt of a properly executed application, new members shall be accepted or rejected by the Board of Directors or amembership committee if one is appointed.

SECTION 4. Dues. The amount of the annualdues payable to the Treasurer shall be determinedby the Board of Directors and be payable on January 1st of all succeedingyears. All payments shall be made either in person or by mail. Participation in all DAARA events will be limited to current up-to-date paid members.

SECTION 5. Any member of the Association may be expelledfor sufficient causeby a majority vote of the Board of Directors. In such case, the member shall be notified of the cause, the facts of the expulsion along with the length i.e., temporary or permanent.This member mayappeal the charges or justify their reasons for such inappropriate actions.All appeals must be presented to the President within ten (10) days after receipt of the expulsion. Any discussion for final resolution will transpire at the nest scheduled Board of Director’s meeting after which the member in question will be notified of the outcome.

ARTICLE V. – GOVERNMENT

SECTION 1. Every question which shall come before a meeting of the members or adhoccommittee shall be decided by a majority of the votes cast. All issues coming before the Board of Directors shall be resolved by votes cast by a quorum. A quorum will consist of six (6) or more Directors.

SECTION 2. The rules contained in “Roberts Rules of Order” latest available edition, shall be the prevailing conduct of all meetings of the Board of Directors, the

general membership, and for any appointed adhoc committees where they are applicable and when not inconsistent with the by-laws.

ARTICLE VI. – MEETING OF THE MEMBERS

SECTION 1. The Association Membership shall hold at least one (1) meeting in the Fall

(November) for a social gathering and awards and again one (1) in February.

Any required special meetings shall be called as per Article II, Section 4.

SECTION 2. Voting. Any question which might be submitted at a meeting of the general membership entitled to vote thereon, will be conducted by a show of hands.

A majority vote by all members present shall be sufficient to decide any question.

Voting ballots for Officers or Board of Directors shall be distributed to all members at their last known address by mail and at least thirty (30) days prior to the deadline for acceptance. Only ballots returned by mail within the allotted timeline will be counted in this election. The Board of Directors may make other regulations as deemed advisable for the conducting of this voting. In any such case, a majority vote of all members casting ballots by mail, shall be sufficient to elect the Officers and Board of Directors. An adhoc committee will be appointed to count register these election results.

ARTICLE VII. – RESPONSIBILITY

SECTION 1. No Officers, Board of Directors Official or member representing the association will be personally liable for any property or personal damage as a result of directing or participating in an Association activity. Such as but not exclusively safety inspector, flagman, corner flagman, announcer, track official, etc.

SECTION 2. Every member shall be responsible for their conduct and for the safety of his or her vehicle during any Association function.

SECTION 3. No activities shall be held under the name of the association without the written approval of the Board of Directors and the direct supervision of at least one Board of Director member.

ARTICLE VIII. -- AMENDMENTS

SECTION 1. By-laws may be adopted, amended, or repealed by the two-thirds vote of membership entitled to exercise a majority of the voting power of the association or by the written assent of such members. Subject to the right of the members to adopt, amend, or repeal By-Laws, By-Laws may be adopted, amended or repealed by a quorum of the Board of Directors, other than with respect to a By-Law changing the authorized number of Directors. A By-Law to change the number of Directors must be adopted by the written vote or consent of a majority of the members of the association entitled to vote. Amajority of returned mail ballots shall be sufficient.

The above By-Laws were adopted by the membership and the following officers on.

ARTICLE VI.

SECTION 2. Change January, 1996

Voting: Any question which might be submitted at a meeting of the members, all members present and entitled to vote and in good standing with the club are entitled to cast a vote at that time which will be counted by a show of hands
